IMD Forecasts Unseasonal Rain, Thunderstorms in Parts of Gujarat from March 29

Ahmedabad: Parts of Gujarat are set to witness a spell of unseasonal light rain and thunderstorms beginning March 29, according to the latest weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department today.

The forecast indicates light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) at isolated places, particularly across North Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch regions over the next few days.

On March 29, districts including Banaskantha, Patan, Sabarkantha, Mehsana, and parts of Saurashtra-Kutch such as Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Morbi, Dwarka, Surendranagar, and Kutch are likely to receive rainfall activity. Similar conditions are expected to persist on March 30, extending to districts like Aravalli, Dahod, and Mahisagar, along with Kutch.

The weather is expected to turn dry again from March 31 to April 1, before isolated light rain returns in parts of North Gujarat and Kutch between April 2 and April 4.

The bulletin also noted that maximum temperatures may see a gradual drop of 2–3°C over the next two days, while minimum temperatures are likely to remain largely unchanged.

In the past 24 hours, weather remained dry across Gujarat, with Keshod recording the highest maximum temperature at 39°C, and Diu the lowest minimum temperature at 19.3°C.

For Ahmedabad, the forecast for the next 24 hours suggests mainly clear skies, with temperatures likely to hover around 37°C (maximum) and 25°C (minimum).

Authorities have advised residents in affected districts to remain alert during thunderstorm activity, avoid taking shelter under trees, and stay indoors during lightning and strong winds. DeshGujarat
