PM Modi to Inaugurate Ahmedabad – Dholera Expressway Built at ₹5,100 Crore
March 30, 2026
Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway, an access-controlled highway developed at a cost of over ₹5,100 crore, on March 31 during his one-day visit to Gujarat.
The expressway, which connects Ahmedabad to the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) and beyond, has been constructed in four packages. Though it has been operational on a trial basis for the past few months, the expressway will now be officially opened to the public. Package 1 has been built at a cost of ₹1,298 crore, Package 2 at ₹1,415 crore, Package 3 at ₹1,034 crore, and Package 4 at ₹1,358 crore.
The 109-km-long greenfield expressway, designed as a four-lane corridor expandable to eight lanes, begins at the Sardar Patel Ring Road near Sarkhej in Ahmedabad and ends at Adhelai village in Bhavnagar district, passing through the DSIR. It is expected to reduce travel time between the two destinations to around 45 minutes.
The expressway will also provide connectivity to the upcoming Dholera International Airport near Navagam, located about 20 km from the DSIR, further strengthening the region’s infrastructure network.
Part of the ambitious Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), the project is expected to significantly boost industrial development and economic growth in the region. It will facilitate faster movement of goods and passengers while improving logistics efficiency.
Route Details:
The Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway begins at the Sardar Patel Ring Road near Sarkhej, close to the NH-8A junction, serving as the primary entry point from Ahmedabad. Key interchanges along the route include Sarkhej, Sindhrej (around km 22), Vejalaka (around km 48), and Pipli near the Dholera International Airport, which is connected via a 9.56-km link road.
The Ambli interchange provides direct access to the Dholera Special Investment Region. The expressway terminates at Adhelai in Bhavnagar district (km 109), with onward connectivity to Bhavnagar and nearby industrial hubs. DeshGujarat
