7,000-kg Giant Laddu Prepared at Atal Ashram in Surat for Hanuman Jayanti

Surat: Demonstrating that devotion and faith know no bounds, a massive 7,000-kg boondi laddu was offered to Lord Hanuman on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti today at Atal Tirth Yatra Dham in the Pal area of Surat. The ‘Hanuman Laddu’ is being described as the largest laddu ever made in the city’s history and the biggest in India for the year 2026.

The preparation of this massive prasad (offering) was a significant undertaking, requiring the efforts of 50 cooks working continuously for 48 hours. The process began at 10:00 AM on March 30 and concluded at 1:00 AM on April 1. To shape the laddu, a specially designed 12-foot-wide circular iron frame, standing 6 feet high, was constructed.

According to Batukgiri Maharaj, the tradition of preparing such large offerings began in 2004 and has grown in scale each year. The record-breaking 2026 laddu was made using 3,000 kg of sugar, 2,000 kg of gram flour (chana dal), 100 tins of ghee, and 300 kg of dry fruits, along with other essential ingredients.

Since early morning, long queues of devotees have gathered at Atal Ashram to witness the grand offering. The atmosphere within the ashram premises resonated with chants of “Jai Shri Ram” and “Jai Hanuman.”

The ashram management has ensured widespread distribution of the maha-prasad across the city, with efforts underway to reach thousands of devotees. Last year, the ashram had prepared a similar 6,000-kg laddu, while a 6,500-kg laddu was made in 2017. DeshGujarat
