Morbi: Members of the Rajput community in the city have submitted a representation to the District Superintendent of Police, alleging harassment of citizens by some Eunuchs. Locals alleged that large sums of money are being forcibly demanded during weddings and other celebrations, along with instances of inappropriate behaviour in public places.
Kanaksinh D. Jadeja, a resident of Rishabhnagar Society-1 and a community leader, stated in his representation that several citizens have raised concerns about mental harassment due to persistent demands for money from Eunuchs individuals. He highlighted that such incidents are particularly troubling during weddings and other auspicious occasions, as well as in situations where women are alone at home. Traders have also reportedly complained about instances of forced collection of money.
In his submission, Jadeja urged the police to take strict legal action and issue a special notification to curb such practices. The demands include prohibiting coercive collection of money during social events such as marriages and childbirth celebrations, and ensuring that any contributions are made voluntarily.
He further called for a ban on alleged acts of indecent behaviour, abusive language, and other coercive tactics used to extract money. The complaint also seeks measures to prevent forceful entry into homes and unnecessary obstruction or nuisance in public spaces. DeshGujarat
