Gujarat Forest Dept Bans Drone Use at ‘Road to Heaven’ to Protect Wildlife
April 11, 2026
Ahmedabad: Authorities have prohibited the use of drones along the popular “Road to Heaven” stretch in Kutch, citing concerns over wildlife disturbance and security. The Rapar Forest Department has enforced the restriction through a recent circular.
The order bans drone operations on both sides of the route, noting that the area is ecologically sensitive and falls under the provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. Officials said signboards are already in place warning visitors against drone usage.
The department emphasised that drone activity disrupts the natural behaviour of birds and animals, particularly migratory species frequenting the region. Additionally, the location lies close to a BSF-controlled border zone, making drone operations a security concern as well.
Forest officials have cautioned that flying drones or conducting aerial shooting in the area will be treated as a legal offence, with strict action taken against violators.
Visitors and photographers have been urged to comply with the rules and avoid using drones for recreational or commercial purposes. DeshGujarat
