Vadodara: In yet another case in the city, residents of Shri Ajit Co-operative Housing Society in the Akota area staged a protest today, alleging violations of the Disturbed Areas Act in what they described as a “well-planned conspiracy” to alter the local demography.

At the heart of the dispute is the transfer of Plot No. 36. Under the Disturbed Areas Act (Ashant Dhara), property transfers typically involve a rigorous verification process lasting several months. However, in this instance, residents pointed out that an application filed on January 20, 2024, received official approval within just three days, on January 23, 2024. Residents suspect this rapid clearance may be the result of influence from high-ranking officials or internal “arrangements” within the Deputy Collector’s office.

The protest centers on the buyer, identified as Ankitaben Pravinsinh Gohil. According to a memorandum submitted by the residents, Ankitaben has been married to a Muslim man, Juned Sheikh, for nine years, and the couple has a son named Ayan.

Residents allege that she intentionally misled the administration by presenting identification documents using her father’s name, submitting a false affidavit claiming to be “unmarried” to bypass legal scrutiny, and concealing her marital status to facilitate the entry of “outsiders” into a Hindu-majority locality.

Demands for Justice and Threat of Migration

The secretary and residents of Shri Ajit Society have issued a stark warning: if the sale deed is not immediately cancelled, Hindu families in the area may be forced to migrate.

“We have lived here for generations,” a residents’ representative stated. “If people infiltrate our area by deceiving the law, our culture and security will be at risk.”
