Five months back groundbreaking ceremony of Rs. 9.5 crore Sudama setu project was performed by state tourism minister at Dwarka, and it was announced that construction of propose bridge connecting Gomti ghat and Panchkui island would complete in 14 months.
However it has come to notice that central government’s Archaeological Survey of India(ASI) has yet not given node to this project, due to which the project has not kicked off yet.
According to district Collector Shri Sandip Kumar, one pillar of proposed bridge falls under 100 meter distance from Dwarkadhish Mandir.
As Dwarkadhish Mandir has been declared protected monument by ASI, one has to get its permission for any construction work in 100 meter area around the monument.
“Though permission has been sought, ASI has yet not responded,” district Collector added.
Proposed Hanging bridge ‘Sudama setu’ will be 127 meter long and 11 ft wide.
Panchkui is small island in sea with five sweet water wells. The island is presently not accessible to visitors. State Tourism department has planned to set up facilities such as meditation, yoga, picnic spot on Panchkui island to make it an ultimate tourist attraction.
