Power shortage in nation,but Gujarat produced highest on Monday

October 17, 2011. What a day it was for the power sector of Gujarat.
While in other states including Maharashtra, power cuts are frequent, Gujarat on Monday generated the highest-ever power, thanks to higher demand.
As per state energy minister Saurabh Patel, Gujarat generated 11,209 MW or 252 million units of power on Monday.
While agriculture sector demand was 70 MU(against average demand of 62MU), the demand from industry sector was 62 MU(against average of 50-51 MU) on Monday, 17 October.
