GMR Energy commissions 25 MW solar plant in north Gujarat

GMR Gujarat Solar Power, a subsidiary of GMR Energy Ltd (GEL) which is a subsidiary of GMR Infrastructure today announced that the company has commissioned its 25-MW solar grid interactive power plant at Gujarat government’s Charanka village solar park in Patan district of Gujarat. The project was awarded to the company in October 2010 under the Gujarat Solar Policy.
The company in a release said this plant adopts the crystalline photovoltaic (PV) technology. The power plant was commissioned on December 31, 2011 and is supplying power to Gujarat UrjaVikas Nigam on a 25-year power purchase agreement under the Gujarat State Solar Policy.
Commenting on the development, Mr Raaj Kumar, CEO GMR Energy, said “The commissioning of this solar power plant is a significant step for us towards a balanced power portfolio and this marks the group’s foray into the renewable energy space.”
