China, Korea, Singapore prominently figure in anti dumping investigations:Commerce Minister informs Parimal Nathwani in RS

The director general of anti dumping (DGAD) initiated 275 anti dumping investigations into cases involving 42 countries/territories from 1992 till March 31, 2012. The 27 European Countries are considered as one territory. Measures in respect of 112 cases were in force till 31st December 2011. The countries prominently figuring in anti dumping investigations were China PR, Chinese Taipai, Korea RP and Singapore.

Mr. Jyotiraditya M, Scindia, union minister of state for commerce and industry informed rajya sabha yesterday in response to a question from Mr. Parimal Nathwani.

Mr. Scindia stated that major product categories on which anti-dumping duty were levied included chemicals and petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, fibres/yarns, steel and other metal products and consumer goods.

According to the details presented in the house by the minister, during the years 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12; the number of anti-dumping cases initiated were fifteen, fifteen and eight respectively. Duty was imposed in eleven cases in 2009-10 and four cases were closed. In the year 2010-11, duty was imposed in thirteen cases and two cases were closed.

The other countries which figured in the anti-dumping cases during last three years were Israel, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, Japan, UAE, Russia, Turkey, Sri Lanka, European Union, Norway, Pakistan, Ukraine, South Africa, Kenya, Iran and USA.
