Ahmedabad, 24 November 2012
Not one, but two Congress candidates today filed nomination form on south Gujarat’s Gandevi seat. Both of them claimed to have party mandate for candidature. Congress party’s Bharti Patel and Kunvarji Halpati both claimed to have party’s mandate and filed nomination forms. It is understood that party leaders would soon intervene and try their best to ensure that one of the two candidates withdraw his/her form. It is believed that such strange incident occurred because the party had sent blank mandates to district unit.
Updates: Congress party finally called back the mandate of Halpati and gave final node to Bhartiben for official candidature.
