Rs 5,000 crore innovation fund to be launched in next few months: Sam Pitroda

National Innovation Council Chairman Sam Pitroda today in Ahmedabad announced that a Rs 5,000 crore fund to support innovations would be launched in the next few months. The fund will be launched with focus on affordability, scalability and sustainability.
Pitroda on the sidelines of inaugurating the 5th design centre of eInfochips, a product and semiconductor engineering services company said that all the states are requested to form a state-level innovation council but unfortunately Gujarat has not done it yet. He explained the idea of sectoral innovation councils under which the central govt shall take clusters approach like Pharma in Ahmedabad, Brassparts in Moradabad, Bamboo in Agartala etc.
