Mumbai, 16 April 2014
Legendary Bollywood film writer and father of Bollywood star Salman Khan, Shri Salim Khan today launched Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Urdu website at his residence in Mumbai in presence of Modi supporter businessman Zafar Sareshwala and Mumbai based BJP leader Shaina NC.
On this occasion, Salim Khan told media persons that he had proposed Modi to start a website in Urdu to reach not only the Muslims but also others like Punjabi and Kayasthas. Salim Khan said he would also contribute to this website.
When asked about year 2002 riots, Salim Khan said: what is the alternative? Should we keep crying till death? Aren’t we going to move forward? When my mother passed away I though I can’t stay alive, but I am alive. It happened long back in 1945. Should I continue to cry for that even now? My father died in 1951, should I continue to cry even today? No one justifies what happened, it should never happen, but I’m sure Mr. Modi has learnt the lesson that till the time he is in power, no innocent person will die.
Replying a question on Abu Azmi and Azam Khan, Salim Khan replied: those who speak nonsense are mad people, they don’t represent Muslims, not one Muslim follows them. They don’t deserve five minute coverage on TV. The problems of Muslims are unemployment, education, housing. They want two time bread and work to do.
Salim Khan said he has voted for Congress in past, but he is disappointed with Congress on certain issues, but if Congress fields good candidate he would again vote for Congress. He said no political party is completely secular at present.
