Ready to free Odisha from BJD regime: BJP

The BJP was ready to provide a strong leadership to the people of Odisha living in an underdeveloped condition in the rule of the BJD, state BJP president Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo said Sunday.
“Mired by scams, lack of political will, fractured polity and absence of clear development goal, the present government has become a handmaiden to its own delusionary agenda of appeasement and dole-based politics, rather than development and growth oriented,” Singhdeo said in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s state website that was launched Sunday.
He said Odisha was passing through a critical juncture in its history, and there was a chance for the people to progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“If we want Odisha to progress, we must wake to this new reality. Development should be the deciding factor rather than parochial social and political consideration. History and posterity would not forgive us if we miss this grand opportunity,” the state BJP president said.
He criticised the Biju Janata Dal government for failing to improve the living standard of the people despite vast mineral resources and workforce in the state that could accelerate growth through industrialisation.
“The people of Odisha are now restless and want to break free from this self-serving agenda. It’s time we called their bluff. This has already been visible in the unearthening of massive scam like chit fund, land allocation and coal block allocation which put the government in the dock,” Singhdeo said.
He said the BJD has been resorting to adjourning the assembly session to hide its misdeeds.
“I have a firm belief that we can do it. Together we can usher in politics of positivity and people-centric development agenda with our hard work, clear vision and a robust organisation,” he said.
Launching the party’s website, BJP leader Arun Singh said the party would reach out to the maximum people in the state and try to bring them into its fold to fight against the corrupt government.
