BJP declares Kiran Bedi as its CM candidate for Delhi polls

As expected, BJP today declared Kiran Bedi as its Chief Ministerial candidate for upcoming Delhi assembly polls that are going to be held after 19 days.

After the meeting of central parliamentary board of BJP held at party headquarters in Delhi in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shri Amit Shah in a press conference said that party will contest Delhi polls under the leadership of Kiran Bedi and Kiranji will be the Chief Ministerial candidate.

Shah then spoke about Kiran Bedi’s education qualifications and her experience in police.

Replying the questions of media persons, Shah said that the decision has been taken unanimously in parliamentary board. He said party’s entire cadre from top to bottom is with this decision.

Shah said Kiran Bedi will contest from Krishnanagar seat which is traditionally BJP bastion. He said party has chosen this seat for Kiran Bedi so that she can campaign in other areas comfortably.

When asked why party is fielding someone as Chief Ministerial candidate who has joined the party four days back, Shah said everyone joins party for the first time at some point of time. Shah said party had 3.5 crore members and now wants to enroll 10 crore members, so obviously many members will be new.

Shah said media should commend party’s decision to give platform to persons from varios fields.

Shah said entire list of all 70 candidates will be declared by party leader JP Nadda today itself one it is typed.
