Govt to announce MSP in April/May instead of August: MoS Agriculture at Junagadh (video)

Speaking at two days long seminar on Water Management and Climate Smart Agriculture in Junagadh, Minister of State for Agriculture in centre Shri Mohanbhai Kundaria today said that the Government of India plans to distribute soil health cards to all 14 crore farmers across India in next three years. He said Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will kick start this project from Rajasthan soon.
MoS Agriculture further said that the central government has taken a decision to announce support prices of crops (minimun support prices or MSP) in the month of April/May instead of August. This will help farmers to know about the prices of agriculture produce before the time of sowing. Farmers will be able to choose what to cultivate based on the details of minimum support prices available to them. He said the government will this year declare support prices in the months of April/May.
Minister Kundaria further said the Government in centre will give its approval to 7 new Krushi Vigyan Kendra in Gujarat in new 7 districts. Not only this but large districts will also be suitable for second Kisan Vigyan Kendra.
He said he will take up the matter of FM radio unit of Junagadh Agriculture University with union Information and Broadcasting ministry. While FM radio facility is ready here, the permission of union ministry is pending. The Minister visited Agriculture University’s FM radio studio and other facilities. He also witnessed the procedure at food testing laboratory of Agriculture University.
He said the Gujarat model of water conservation will be replicated in other states across India.
