GSFC lines up Rs 15,000 crore capex over next 2 years

Mumbai

Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd (GSFC) today said it has lined up an investment of Rs 15,000 crore to expand capacity over the next two years.

The company has decided to increase its capacity for DAP (most widely used phosphate fertiliser), melamine (used in laminates, consumer moulded goods adhesives etc), Nylon and caprolactam (a raw material for Nylon-6). GSFC is already the biggest producer of caprolactam and melamine in the country.

“Our diammonium phosphate (DAP) plant in Sikka in Gujarat would be roughly doubled to 13 lakh metric tonne per annum.

The caprolactam capacity will be increased by another one lakh metric tonne over the next two years period. The expansion project is estimated to cost around Rs 15,000 crore,” GSFC Chairman and Managing Director S K Nanda told PTI.

The company is also looking at increasing fibre capacity to 20,000 tpa and high speed chips to 30,000 tpa, Nanda said.

Among other projects, the company is putting up 15,000 MT per annum of nylon-6 project, 10 lakh litres per annum of liquid biofertiliser and 45 lakh per annum of tissue culture plants.

As part of diversification, the company has invested Rs 100 crore to venture into nylon fibres manufacturing for construction and infrastructure industries.

“We have invested Rs 100 crore to diversify into concrete reinforced fibre (CRF) and nylon reinforced fibre (PRF) manufacturing for construction and infrastructure industries,” Nanda said.

The company has set up a unit having capacity of 750 tpa of CRF/PRF at Surat in Gujarat.

The facility also has inbuilt capacity expansion of upto 3,600 tpa and company has developed in-house technology and has already obtained patent for the same, he said.

GSFC claims its a pioneer in caprolactum having 70,000 MTPA and nylon value chain products. From caprolactum, the company produces nylon-6 polymer for engineering plastic, film and fibre applications.

It has now introduced Gujcon CRF-PRF nylon-6 for construction and infrastructure industries.

Gujcon CRF/PRF are secondary fibre reinforcement for concrete and plaster respectively. It has major application in RCC & PCC, flooring, roads, bridges, pre-cast structures and waterproofing.

The company has recently launched its Sardar Package Scheme in 41 talukas (sub-divisions) spread across 19 districts in Gujarat to promote use of renewable energy in irrigation.

“The main purpose of Sardar Package Scheme scheme is to spread awareness for solar pumps among farmers and encourage them to use of them for drip irrigation,” Nanda said.
