Curfew clamped in Patan, Mahesana, Visnagar, Unjha , parts of Ahmedabad and Surat

Curfew was imposed in Patan town of Gujarat today following incidence of violence and arson by alleged supporters of the Patidar(Patel) Anamat Aandolan Samiti (PAAS) owing to which nine areas of Ahmedabad, two of Surat and the whole of Mahesana city along with two of its towns Visnagar and Unjha are already under similar restrictions.
SP of Patan, the home town of chief minister Mrs. Anandiben Patel, Mr. Ashwini Chauhan told UNI that curfew was imposed in the city today. He also confirmed an incidence of burning of the official vehicle of a magistrate in the city as well.
Earlier in the wee hours today curfew and section 144 of the CRPC (prohibitory orders) were pronounced in Ramol, Bapunagar, Nikol, Vadaj, Krishnanagar, Ghatlodia (the assembly constituency of the CM), Odhav, Naroda and Naranpura (the assembly constituency of BJP president Amitbhai Shah) areas of Ahmedabad.
Kakodara and Sarthana of Surat and Mahesana city, Unjha and Visnagar were also were also clamped with curfew late last night.
Over 150 vehicles including more than 70 buses and several police vehicles, police outposts and government offices have been burnt by the protestors so far.
The violence erupted after the arrest of PAAS convener Hardik Patel last evening after his kranti rally in support of the demand of inclusion of the Patel community in OBC category for reservation benefits.
Unjha: BJP MLA Narayanbhai Patel’s office torched.
Chandlodia: 10 tear gas shells lobbed.

Vastral: ICICI bank and ATM vandalized.

Idar: Minister Ramanlal Vora’s office burnt.
Ahmedabad: 9 police station area under curfew.

Himmatnagar – Modasa highway blocked by trees.
Junagadh-Porbandar highway blocked.
State Transport(ST) buses are not moving across the state. Many passengers stuck.

Former BJP MLA Dr Bharat Boghra today in a public meeting of Patidar community in Jasdan town announced his resignation from the post of Chairman of Marketing yard. Boghra also made announcement to leave state BJP Yuva Morcha post. Jasdan city BJP chief also announced his resignation. Another BJP leader Gajendra Ramani has resigned from the post of prabhari(guardian). Three BJP Councillors have also resigned. These announcements were made in Patidar community public meeting after a rally.
