Two members of a fake currency racket of West Bengal nabbed by the special operation group (SOG) of the crime branch of Vadodara Police here three days ago today fled from the lockup of Javaharnagar police station where they were lodged during 11 day remand allowed by a local court for further investigation.

Police Inspector R S Gamit said that the incident took place early morning when preparations for taking them back to their native district Malda (in West Bengal) in course of investigation were on.

‘Mohammed Anjarul Haque and his associate Anarul Sheikh were caught by the SOG from Bajva Market area of the city with 115 fake currency notes each of Rs 1000 denomination. They dodged the constable and fled at around 0530 am this morning.’ he said.

Efforts were on to re-arrest them. The incident was also being investigated.
