This beautiful pair of wooden paduka with silver repousse and attached bells is from 18th century, Gujarat. It is presently kept at a Shoes museum in Toronto, Canada. According to the website of the museum the pair was acquired in Zanzibar.
And this is not the only pair of shoes from Gujarat exhibited in this museum. The other pair here represents 19th century Gujarat. It is made using ivory and wood pegs.
The website ‘allaboutshoes’ has entire section on Padukas, and a small podcast too.
