July 01, 2014
Ahmedabad, 1 July
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation on Monday said the new adventure ride ‘zip-line’ over Sabarmati river is likely to open for public by end of July this year.
The length of the adventure ride will be 350 metre & the height nearly 60 ft over river Sabarmati. The zip line will be supported by 50 ft high towers on both banks of the river. The location of western side tower is behind the National Institute of Design(NID).
One-side distance of 350 meter will take just one minute to cross through zip-line.
The Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Limited (SRFDCL) has assigned the zip-lining project to an experienced agency for three years.
Zip-lining will enable a person to experience an aerial rope slide and move across the other parts of the river covering a distance of 350 metre. The ride will be available on both sides of the river and a person can slide to and from the river.
The rate of this ride has not been announced yet but it could be around Rs. 400 per person.
The ride will be operational throughout the year even during monsoon or low water levels.Due to theft of iron bars early this year the construction and installation of the tower for zip-lining was delayed.
