In year 2008, when Kosi flood tragedy occurred, it was Nitish Kumar himself who had sought monitory help from Gujarat.

Nitish Kumar had called Narendra Modi over a phone in August 2008 and reportedly asked him, “Modiji we have received your fax, but how money can arrive through fax?”

To this, Modi had reportedly replied, “Nitishji, you are talking with Narendra Modi. As soon as you end your phone call, Gujarat’s Rs 5 crore help will reach your doorstep.”

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi himself narrated this conversation in his 17 September speech in Surat when a train full of aid for Bihar victims was flagged off.

Modi in his this speech said, “Gujarat was first in all over India to send monitory aid to Bihar. I had sent an officer with Rs 5 crore cheque and as I told Nitish, the help reached Bihar timely.”

In same speech Modi had also said, “We are nobody to give something to someone, it is only God that is giver. We are doing this, because it gives us pleasure to help others.”

The video of that speech is presented above.
