Ahmedabad, 9 July 2010
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has started planting 2,500 native tree saplings on the entire 18-km green corridor of Bus Rapid Transit System(BRTS) route at every seven meters in a massive plantation drive in Ahmedabad. The drive will continue for two weeks.
The AMC is planting Garmalo(Raj Vriksha with yellow flowers before monsoon), Gulmahor(red flowers in summer) and Neem(always remain green) in this drive. The trees will provide canopy, increase tree density, and also beautify the corridor.
