‘Rurban’ grant released to villages under pilot project

Under the ‘Rurban’ project of the government of Gujarat, the people are going to have urban amenities in rural area.
Gandhinagar district’s Randheja is one such village chosen for pilot project of Rurban.
Accordingly the village has received Rs. 13.45 crore grant which will be utilized for gutter, water, roads, street lights and other facilities similar to urban area.
To prevent rapid urbanization, the government of Gujarat has implemented ‘Rurban’ scheme under which those villages with more than 10,000 population will be provided facilities similar to urban area.
As Gandhinagar district’s Randheja has received grant under the pilot project, the village will witness development works including construction of internal and main roads, gutter system for discharge including rain water discharge, water supply by pipe in every house and street light service on main roads as well as internal roads of the village.
Success of pilot project in one village of each district will decide fate of this scheme in other villages with more than 10,000 population.
Gujarat will implement its Rurban concept in 50 towns of the state this year.
