63% Delhi MLAs crorepatis, 34% facing criminal cases: ADR

As per a report by Association for Democratic Reforms(ADR) out of the total 70 newly elected MLAs of Delhi(67 of them from Aam Aadmi Party), 44(63%) are crorepatis. In 2013 this figure was 51(73%) while in 2008 it was 47(69%).
The average assets per MLA for Delhi 2015 assembly elections are Rs. 6.29 crore which was Rs. 10.83 crore in year 2013 and Rs. 2.81 crore in year 2008.
Out of 70 newly elected MLAs, 11(16%) have total assets worth more than Rs. 10 crore. Top crorepati MLAs are from AAP. They are Pramila Tokas – RK Puram(87 crore+), Naresh Balyan – Uttam Nagar(58 crore+), Kailash Gahlot – Najafgarh(37 crore+) and Naresh Yadav – Mehrauli(26 crore+).
Three top MLAs with high liabilities are Pramila Tokas has liabilities of Rs. 12 crore+, Kartar Singh Tanwar Rs. 9 crore+, Kailash Gahlot Rs. 8 crore+.All of them are from AAP.
Out of 70 MLAs, 24(34%) have declared criminal cases against themselves. Aam Aadmi Party’s 23(34%) MLAs have declared criminal cases while 1(33%) out of 3 BJP MLAs has also declared criminal cases. In 2013 this figure was 25(36%) and in 2008 29(43%). Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has mentioned 10 cases against him in which 7 are in ‘cognizance taken’ category while in 3 cases charges are framed.Arvind’s aide Manish Sisodia faces 6 cases, of which in 5 cognizance has been taken while in 1 case charges are framed.
5 MLAs who have not declared income tax details are Sankalp Kumar, Raju Dhingan, Praveen Kumar, Sarita Singh and Rakhi Birla. All of them from AAP.
