The award distribution ceremony for AMA Annual Awards was held today at the J. B. Auditorium, AMA Complex, Ahmedabad, wherein Mr. R. Gopalkrishnan, Director, Tata Sons Ltd., presented the awards to the winners under four categories.

While Mr. Prakash Nayak, Executive Vice President, Kotak Mahindra Bank, was presented AMA-Metrochem Outstanding Manager of the Year Award 2014, Mr. Vishnubhai Patel, Chairman & Managing Director, Sadbhav Engineering Ltd, received the AMA-Atlas Dyechem Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2014. Similarly, Mr. Angshu Mallick, Chief Operating Officer, Adani Wilmar Ltd., was presented AMA-Zydus Cadila Marketing Man of the Year Award 2014, whereas Dr. Shreya Shah, Founder, Drashti Netralaya & Ms. Ruzan Khambatta, Founder, Wizz O Tech Ltd., received the Anubhai Chimanlal-AMA Nagarikta Puraskar Award 2014.

Leaders from business community, corporate world, service & social sector were present at the ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, Mr. R Gopalakrishnan, Director, Tata Sons, said, “China produces 50% more food with 20% less land than India. To replicate this, Indian food producers need to urgently adopt new and emerging technologies. This kind of requirement also offers a real entrepreneurial opportunity to improve Skill Development for the Food and Agricultural sector in the country. Just like ITIs for skill development meant for industry in the 1950s, India can now implement an ATTI Scheme (“Agriculture Technical Training Institutes”).”

“Under this scheme, private entrepreneurs can setup state-of-the-art training institutes to impart training to rural youth in modern agricultural, food production, marketing and other skills to be deployed across the food value chain. The overall objective of skill building should be to improve human and farm productivity through introducing modern practices and encourage entrepreneurs to transform skill level in food production into a marketing and value-driven business. To facilitate this, major policy shift which facilitates direct support to the beneficiary by cutting down the bureaucratic hurdles, is a must,” he added.

Awardees:

During the period of 21 years of his association with Kotak Mahindra Bank, Mr. Nayak, establishing 30 branches in Gujarat state has been instrumental for primarily establishing the brand Kotak and then secondarily making the bank as one of the strongest financial service brands in Gujarat. Under hisleadership, he has set up all the new businesses for Kotak Bank in Gujarat state like Stock Broking, Life insurance, Corporate and Wholesale business.

With his 40 years of association to the Infrastructure, Construction and Civil Engineering industries now, Vishnubhai has pioneered growth in projects like Construction of Roads & Highways, Bridges, Irrigation supporting infrastructure and Mining. With Sadbhav Engineering Limited’s diversified business in Indian construction industry and presence in various states in India, Vishnubhai has successfully lead, exemplified and executed challenging projects in mining, irrigation, roads and highways like Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited (SSNNL) Canal Project, Narmada Main Canal Project, excavation for Vastan Mines of GIPCL and development of roads & highways on Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) like Ahmedabad Ring Road Infra Ltd.
