Ahmedabad
Due to heavy rain in Rajasthan, Dharoi dam in north Gujarat received huge inflow. Surplus water of Dharoi dam is being released. The released water has reached Sabarmati riverfront in Ahmedabad city and some flooding has been witnessed late in the night at lower promenade of riverfront. The lower promenade which is popularly known as walkway was closed for public yesterday morning itself. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) has shifted few hundred people from low lying slum area in Vadaj to school buildings. If water level rises, some under-bridges located next to river bank may needed to be closed for traffic. Such situation had lastly occurred in year 2006. Following are the photographs of riverfront post midnight:
Updates: Mithakhali and Shahibaug under bridges are closed for traffic. Vadaj-Chandrabhaga slums are as expected witnessing flood.
