Gujarat government today said that it would decide on withdrawal of more cases related to Patidar reservation stir on the basis of recommendation of the home department which was doing phase wise scrutiny of the remaining cases after the Chief Minster’s decision earlier this month to take back 74 of the total 457 such case.
The government also indicated that it was ready to hold talks with the quota stir leaders.
State government spokesperson and health minister Nitin Patel, who had earlier also headed a seven ministers committee that hold talks with the quota leaders, told newsmen here today that the second round of scrutiny of the cases by the home department was on. ‘The scrutiny was being done as per the instructions of the hounorable chief minister. Once it is complete, more cases will be withdrawn based on the recommendation of the department. The chief minister has already said that the cases will be taken back in phased manner after proper scrutiny,’ he said.
To a query regarding holding talks with the quota stir leaders again, Mr. Patel said that the government was always ready to hold talks.
Earlier on January 2 the chief minister had instructed to withdraw 74 of the total 457 cases across 18 districts of Gujarat. In the 74 cases of comparatively lighter nature there are a total of 382 accused.
