Kite Festival inaugurated, colorful kites fill the Sabarmati riverfront skyline

Ahmedabad: Colorful kites filled the skyline near Sabarmati riverfront here this morning as Governor O P Kohli and Chief Minister Vijay Rupani inaugurated the annual International Kite Festival in which over 160 expert kite fliers including more than 100 from 31 countries are participating.
The week long festival organized by the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited on the occasion of Uttrayan each year will conclude on January 14.

On the occasion 2000 students from the schools run by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation performed group ‘suryanamaskar’.
. Special attractions at IKF this year include a theme pavilion based on ‘Tourist Destinations of Gujarat’, kite workshop, adventure games for kids, craft stalls to display the local art and food stalls with local delicacies for the visitors.

over 160 kite fliers, which includes around 50 from 8 different states and more than 100 kite fliers from more than 31 countries, are participating this year.

Kite lovers and experts from Argentina, Australia, France, Brazil, Belgium, Cambodia, Canada, Estonia, Germany, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Netherlands, New-Zealand, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, the U.K, the U.S.A and Vietnam are a part of this mega event.

Apart from the main event in Ahmedabad kite festivals is also being held across the state at over a dozen venues including Palanpur, Rajkot, Vadodara, Pavagadh, Valsad, Gandhidham.

Notably this year the Kite festival has also coincided partially with the biennial Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit to be held from January 10 to 13.
