January 25, 2017
Anand: Based on the inputs of Anti Terrorist Squad(ATS) of Gujarat Police, the police in Thailand has nabbed Chandresh Patel, a main accused of Borsad councillor Pragnesh Patel firing case in Gujarat. Chandresh had given supari of killing Pragnesh to Ravi Pujari gang. On instance of Chandresh, a Ravi Pujari gang member who has been arrested already by Gujarat Police had shot at Pragnesh, an independent councillor of Borsad town in Central Gujarat. Chandresh is presently in Thailand police custody. ATS team from Gujarat has reached Thailand to bring Chandresh back to Gujarat. This is a major success of Gujarat ATS thanks to its very well executed probe and coordinated efforts of various agencies.
Background of the case:
Pragnesh Patel was shot at on January 13 when he was passing through Anand cross roads. Four rounds were fired at Pragnesh by persons on bike.
Chandresh Patel’s mother was BJP candidate against Pragnesh Patel in local election. Pragnesh had defeated Chandresh’s mother. Chandresh had contacted Ravi Pujari gang and fixed Rs 25 lakh deal to eliminate Pragnesh. ATS has already arrested Suresh Pillai, Ghanshyam Girl and Shabbir in this case. Suresh Pillai is Ravi Pujari gang’s operative. After firing on Pragnesh, Ravi Pujari had called Pragnesh’s brother Sanket from overseas and said that Pragnesh had to be shot at as he was interfering. Ravi Pujari also called Anklav MLA of Congress Party Amit Chavda and said, “ you give lot interviews on TV. You will face same treatment as Pragnesh Patel.” ATS believes that Ravi Pujari dialled these calls to get credit for his ability to execute supari killing and spread horror.
