Gandhinagar: Gujarat government has taken a decision to present year 2017 Ramanbhai Neelkanth Hasya Paritoshik (award) of Gujarat Sahitya Academy to veteran humor writer Shri Tarak Mehta.

Ahmedabad based Shri Tarak mehta has been already honored with Padma award and number of other awards. He writes his column in leading Gujarati magazine for last over 45 years. He has given new height to Gujarati humor writing. A TV serial based on his writings ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma’ has been very popular across the country.
