Yogi Adityanath to become new Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Sharma and Maurya Deputy CMs

Lucknow: Yogi Adityanath, 44, a Science graduate(BSc) Hindu priest from Gorakhpur has been elected as leader of Uttar Pradesh BJP legislatures group unopposed. He is going to take oath as new Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh tomorrow afternoon. BJP MLAs Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma will take oath as Deputy Chief Ministers. Maurya is state BJP president while Sharma is Lucknow Mayor who is also incharge of BJP Gujarat. Sharma is not MLA at present. Yogi himself proposed to have two Deputy Chief Ministers to assist him after his election as party’s legislature group leader.

Yogi Adityanath has been member of parliament since 1998. He is popular leader in Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh. He has set up Hindu Vahini organization.

Born on 5 June 1972 in Uttarakhand(then Uttar Pradesh), Yogi Adityanath’s real name is Ajay Singh Negi. He passed BSc from Garhwal University. He was appointed by Mahant Avaidyanath as his successor. Yogi became MP at the age of 26 which is a record. He won Lok Sabha election in 1998 and then reelected in 1999, 2004, 2009 and 2014. He was appointed as head of Gorakhpur math in 2014. He was main accused in 2007 Gorakhpur riot. He had faced attack on 7 September 2008 in Azamgadh.

Yogi Adityanath’s swearing in function will be held tomorrow afternoon post 2.00 pm in presence of Prime Minister Shri Naendra Modi, BJP national president Shri Amit Shah and others.
