Three industrial units booked for releasing effluents in open plot, storm water line, Narmada canal

Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad rural police’s special operations group(SOG) has filed cases against Changodar based Osia Steel Pvt Ltd, Incotech Ltd and Arihant Remedies for releasing polluted effluent and untreated water in storm water line and Narmada canal.
Osian Steel was found releasing acidic effluent after acid wash of steel bars in storm water line while Incotech was releasing coloured water remaining after dyeing cotton material in an open plot. Aihant Remedies which manufactures ayurvedic products released water in the Narmada canal through tankers.
Police has filed complaint under IPS sections 277(fouling water of public spring or reservoir), 278(making atmosphere noxious to health) and 284(negligent conduct with respect to poisonous substance).
Gujarat Pollution Control Board(GPCB) would file another case in this regard.
