Vaghani told by court to reappear as accused in cheque bounce case on 2nd May: Gujarat Congress

Bhavnagar: Gujarat Congress today alleged that State BJP president Jitubhai Vaghani had to appear before the court in Mumbai after non-bailable warrant against him and he was given bail for Rs 10,000 bond and Rs 15,000 surity. State Congress general secretary Nishit Vyas in a statement said that Jitubhai was allowed to g only when he assured the court that he would reappear before the court on 2 May as accused.

Vyas said Jitubhai’s two partners had appeared before court two days ago and received bail. The court didn’t accept arguments of Vaghani’s lawyer and asked him to produce Vaghani. It was this reason because of which Vaghani had to appear in the court.

Vyas said Vaghani had arrived at compromise with complainant Mumbai based Owaisi and assured him to pay back Rs 3.75 crore amount, but Vaghani later refused to keep his promise.

Refuting BJP’s arguments in favour of Vaghani, Vyas said why court has not termed Vaghani innocent so far? Why court after looking at all facts issued non-bailable warrant against Vaghani? When Congress is not in power in Gujarat, Maharashtra or Centre, how BJP can argue that Congress is behind this? When Vaghani challenged court order in higher court, why higher court issued order against Vaghani instead of giving him relief which he had sought?

It should be mentioned that in this cheque bounce case, State BJP spokesperson Bharat Pandya has on behalf of Vaghani argued that Vaghani is one of partners in said firm. MoU of disputed deal had no signature of Vaghani, so as the cheque which bounced. A day after the cheque failed to clear, Rs 19 lakh amount was transferred to complainant’s account via RTGS, the fact that complainant had concealed in order to mislead the court.
