8 women trained for Pink auto rickshaw project in Surat, training for 15 more underway

Surat: Surat Municipal Corporation(SMC) has in its one of the latest initiatives trained 8 women for rickshaw driving and planned to implement pink rickshaw concept of women rickshaw drivers.
UCD department of SMC has implemented this project under which the training and license cost for women is paid by SMC. Efforts are on to involve more women in this project in cooperation with Bank of Baroda’s Baroda Swarojgar Vikas Sansthan.
The training for 8 women took one month. Driving licenses are already handed over to them. 15 more women are inducted for training last Monday. They have been given learning licenses. 10 more women will appear in test for training this Friday.
