PM Narendra Modi reviews flood situation, announces Rs 500 crore for Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced Rs 500 crore for flood-hit Gujarat. He also announced Rs 2 lakh to kin of those dead and Rs 50,000 to each one injured during this calamity. The Prime Minister congratulated the State government for its response to flood calamity.
The Prime Minister said central government’s urban department team will come for survey of damage in flood-hit urban areas while rural department’s official will visit the state to take short term and long term steps.
He said insurance firms will immediately do survey and utilize modern technology in order to ensure that benefit of insurance is availed to beneficiaries.
The PM assured all help from the Centre be it in the domain of agriculture or power or water.
He said the central government agency will arrive here and work with Gujarat government’s survey teams.
The Prime Minister congratulated the voluntary organizations in Gujarat that have extended help.
Shri Modi announced more helicopters for rescue in Gujarat from tomorrow.
The Prime Minister who arrived at Ahmedabad airport today afternoon, first held meeting to review the flood situation at airport itself. He then moved to Deesa in North Gujarat to undertake aerial survey of flood hit areas of North Gujarat. State Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister among others accompanied him.
