Farmer attacked by sloth bear in North Gujarat

Palanpur: A 60 year old farmer was seriously injured by a sloth bear in Jorapur village under Danta taluka of Banaskantha district in North Gujarat today.
DCF of Banaskantha I K Barad and ACF I A Nagori said that Hathisinh Ranchhod Chauhan was attacked by a female bear this morning. He had gone to the nearby jungle area to attend nature’s call.
‘The female bear was having her cubs with her and such beasts easily attack human beings as they fear that they (human beings) might cause harm to their cubs. Hathisinh with injury in head has been admitted to a private hospital in Palanpur and his situation was out of danger now,’ Barad said.
Notably, the place of occurrence is around 30 km away from Kansa village situated in the Balaram Ambaji Wildlife Sanctuary in Banaskantha district bordering Rajasthan where a sloth bear which had killed 3 persons including a forest department employee and injured five was shot dead on March 15 this year.
