15 crude bombs found in Dariapur area of Ahmedabad, all defused
October 07, 2017
Ahmedabad: At least 15 crude bombs were today found lying in a trash in sensitive Dariyapur area of old Ahmedabad city today, police said.
DCP Zone 4 Sudhir Desai said that the bombs were of low capacity and completely locally made. All the 15 bombs were found at the same place from roadside trash.
‘These were diffused by the bomb disposal squad later,’ he said adding that the matter was under investigation.
Incidentally the recovery of bombs has been made on the first day of the 2 day Gujarat visit of PM Narendra Modi though he won’t be participating in any event in the city during his trip.
Desai, however said that there was no need to panic as the bombs were quite local with no IED or any such device attached.
No arrests have been made in this connection so far.
Tins used for these crude bombs are very old which indicate possibility that crude bombs were made before year 2005, possibly during 2002 riots.
Notably, citizens of Ahmedabad which has seen a deadly serial bomb blast in July 2008 which killed over 50 people and injured around 400, felt a bit panicked about the recovery of the crude bombs.
