100 AAP leaders/workers including women wing chief join Congress in Gujarat

Ahmedabad:

Giving a jolt to Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party before Gujarat Assembly polls, around 100 of its workers and leaders including its state women wing head Vandana Patel joined Congress here today.

Apart from Vandana another prominent leader of the party in Gujarat Rituraj Mehta, who was the candidate of the party against former Deputy PM and veteran BJP leader L K Advani on Gandhinagar Loksabha seat in last general election in 2014 also joined Congress.

Vandana Patel had herself tried her luck unsucessfully on Mahesana Loksabha seat. Notably AAP had contested on all the 26 Loksabha seats in Gujarat and was badly defeated on all of these.

Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi said that all the AAP leaders/workers joined the party in front of GPCC president and former union minister Bharatsinh Solanki.

Notably AAP has so far announced 11 candidates for Gujarat Assembly polls to be held in two phases on December 9 and 14 this year. It has expressed desire to field around 150 candidates in the state where the total number of assembly segments is 182.
