Heavy rains in Valsad leave national highways battered, drone video of vehicles jumping goes viral

Valsad: The South Gujarat region has been heavily lashed with downpour. Incessant monsoon rains in Valsad district have severely damaged both National and State Highways, leaving roads riddled with deep potholes and uneven surfaces that resemble the moon’s surface.
The condition of National Highway 848, which connects Valsad to Maharashtra’s Nashik via Kaprada, has deteriorated significantly. Due to the broken and waterlogged roads, commuters are facing massive delays. A journey that normally takes one hour is now stretching up to five hours. Locals and travelers have urged authorities to take immediate steps to repair the roads.
Earlier, authorities had identified 11 critical spots on National Highway 48, including an 8-foot-wide pothole on the Karambeli Bridge and major damage near the Sugar Factory Bridge, where road conditions were described as extremely poor. The contractor has been directed to complete the repair work within a week. Now, major potholes have also emerged on another highway passing via Valsad due to the continuing rainfall. DeshGujarat
