NHAI carries out major repair on Vadodara – Bharuch stretch of National Highway 48

Vadodara: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel today held a high-level meeting in the state capital Gandhinagar to review the condition of roads, bridges, and highways across the state in the wake of monsoon-related damage. He instructed officials to carry out urgent repairs on a war footing wherever deterioration was reported due to heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, major repair works are being undertaken on National Highway-48 between Vadodara and Bharuch, particularly in stretches near Jambua, Por, Bamangam, and on the approach road to the Narmada Bridge in Bharuch. These areas had suffered damage due to persistent rainfall and continuous vehicular movement over the past month.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), through its PIU-Ekta Nagar division, began repair operations in June 2025. So far, a total of 280.95 cubic meters of hot mix, 28.14 cubic meters of cold mix, 78 cubic meters of granular sub-base, and 465.1 square meters of paver blocks have been used to restore the damaged road stretches.

To expedite the work, 206 personnel and equipment units have been deployed, including 5 backhoe loaders, 30 tippers, 3 pavers, 4 rollers, 21 tractors, and 143 labourers. In addition, an Incident Management Team has been mobilized for smooth traffic control and emergency response. The team includes 4 route patrol vehicles, 3 cranes, and 3 ambulances, ensuring round-the-clock preparedness during the rainy season.

The swift restoration work by NHAI is expected to significantly improve road safety and ensure a smooth travel experience for commuters on NH-48. DeshGujarat
