PM Modi hails Sunni Waqf Board for terming Sibal stands as wrong

Dahod/Dhandhuka:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today congratulated the Sunni Waqf Board for distancing itself from and terming wrong the stand of its advocate and senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal during the hearing of Ramjanmbhoomi dispute in the apex court demanding deferring of the hearing till after the next Loksabha elections.

He also took a dig at Congress and Sibal for such a stand.

During his election rally in Dahod PM Modi said that the stance of the board was good for the unity of the country. It has distanced itself from Sibal’s stand despite him being its pleader in the court and termed it wrong. It has said that it wanted speedy hearing.

Modi said why was Sibal trying to link the hearing of Ram temple with the election. ‘At a time when the Sunni Waqf board,Shia Waqf board and RamJanbhoomi Nyas were trying to find a peaceful way out, Congress and Sibal should stop trying to put obstacles like putting bones in hawan (sacred pyre for Yagna),’ he said

Earlier during his rally at Dhandhuka PM Modi asked why Congress was terming Sibal’s stand as his personal opinion.
He alleged that Congress which makes false promises during electiona had for political gains had lingered many important issues in this manner and made the situation of the country miserable.
‘ Yesterday in Supreme Court, Congress MP Kapil Sibal was arguing in the case and for Babri Masjid. He is entitled to do that and argue for Muslims and Barbri Masjid but is it right for him to say that postpone hearing till 2019,’ he said.

Modi said that BJP never bothered to halt decisions in the interest of people for the sake of electoral gains.
He said, ‘ When Triple Talaq issue was in the Supreme Court and his government had to file their affidavit, newspapers commented that Modi will remain silent because of UP polls where Muslims were in large number and I won’t dare to buy their anger. People also told me not to speak else there will be losses in elections.I was clear,I will not be silent.Everything is not about elections. We took a stand to benefit crores of women of the community and now we are going to make a strict law against triple Talaq.’

Notably, the member of Waqf board and one of the parties in Ramjanmbhoomi-Babri masjid dispute Haji Mahboob today said that Sibal though was his advocate but his stand was wrong. He did not want the matter to be lingered and want its speedy hearing and resolution.
