Gujarat govt launches ‘Trinetra’ initiative for drone surveillance of mineral areas

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister today launched drone surveillance initiative of his government’s mining department.




The Chief Minister named this initiative as ‘Trinetra'(third eye). He in his speech stressed on need to utilize technology in governance and said Gujarat has 2 lakh square km mining-minerals area for which drone technology should be used in various districts and a state-level command control room should be set up for that.

The Chief Minister also suggested that other departments like water supply, road and building etc should be linked to Trinetra drone surveillance technology.

He said, the initiation of Gujarat will show direction to the country.

In a pilot project, Sabarmati, Orsang, Tapi and Bhadar rivers will be observed through drone technology in order to check illegal sand mining.

Speaking in this function, Commissioner of Geology and Mining Roopwant Sinh said 686 blocks of various minerals are ready for auction across the State. He said the government has taken an important decision to carry out e-auction of minerals in all areas.




He also shared details of successful auction of three major lime stone areas of Kutch district last year thanks to which the State would have Rs 9,000 crore revenue through royalty and premium He also spoke about digitization of mineral areas with longitude and latitude details, bar-code, hologram, special security papers, royalty pass etc initiatives.
