Boy falls in open gutter during rain in Surat, dies

Surat:
An around 7 year old boy today died due to falling in an open man-hole of a gutter in Nana Varachha area of the city during rain.
Rohan was playing with 3 other children in Dhal area when he suddenly fell in the open man-whole on the road which he could not see due to the road being water logged.
His body was fished out of adjoining river Tapi to which the gutter is connected after around 5 hours of search operation by SMC fire brigade team.
Mayor Jagdish Patel said that some local traders had opened the man-hole at their own during the rain so that the water did not enter their premises.
He said that strict action would be taken against those found involved in the act which has taken one precious life.
