Army kills two Jaish terrorists; four jawans, one civilian also killed, one jawan injured in gunfight

Srinagar: Indian Army jawans today killed two Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists after hours long gunfire.

Identification of terrorists is underway. It is believed that one of those killed is Kamran, while the other is Abdul Rashid Ghazi.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police – South Kashmir range, Amit Kumar said that two militants have been killed in the operation.

He said that the bodies of the slain militants have been recovered along with as many weapons and other war-like stores.

DIG further said that the searches in the area are still underway to find out if there is any more militant body.

Four Army men including an officer were killed and a soldier was injured in this gunfight at Pinglena area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district today morning.

A joint team of Army’s 55 RR, CRPF and SOG launched a cordon during wee hours today following credible inputs about the presence of terrorists.

As the joint team of forces intensified the searches and fired some warning shots towards the suspected spot. The hiding terrorists opened fire, triggering off a gunfight, he said.

During the course of gunfight, four Army soldiers including a Major have been killed.

The officer identified the slain soldiers as Major DS Dondial, Head Constable Save Ram, Sepoy Ajay Kumar and Sepoy Hari Singh.

The critically injured Army man has been identified as Sepoy Gulzar Mohammad who has been evacuated to Army’s 92 base hospital Badamibagh Srinagar for treatment.

A civilian namely Mushtaq Ahmad is said to have died of critical wounds during the exchange of gunfight.

When reports last came in, the searches were going on in the area to trace out the militants.
