Mumbai: Rita Bhaduri, 62-year old Bengali actress who worked in number of Gujarati and Hindi movies and TV shows passed away today in Mumbai. She was suffering from kidney disease. She passed away today morning after suffering cardiac arrest at Sujoy Hospital in suburban Juhu at 1.45 am. She was hospitalized from last two weeks. Her final rites took place in Andheri East at noon today.

Ahmedabad: Renown author, painter and Narmada yatrai Amrutlal Vegad passed away today at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. Ailing for last some time, Vegad was on ventilator support.
Hailing from Madhapur in Kutch but settled in Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, Amrutlal Vegad was born on 3rd October in 1928. He had penned down narration of his over 4,000 km long Narada parikrama in Gujarati and Hindi. The narration was later translated in English, Bengali and Marathi.

Gandhinagar: The Government of Gujarat has announced second edition of Kala Mahakumbh between 16th July and 10th September this year. The Mahakumbh will be held in four age groups. It will include 29 art forms of which 7 are newly added this year. They include wedding song/fatana, kuchipudi, sarod, sarangi, jodiya pava, ravan haththo and bhavai. Online registration to participate in Mahakumbh will open during 1st to 15th July at www.kalamahakumbhgujarat.com.

Ahmedabad: Much awaited Gujarati movie Natsamrat which is an adaptation of super hit Marathi film Natsamrat will release on 30th August.
The film is presented by Jhamu Sughand who has in the past given movies like Lagaan, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Rangeela.
Gujarati movie Natsamrat has renown actors such as Siddharth Randeria, Manoj Joshi and Dipika Chikhalia Topiwala.

Mumbai: Noted Gujarati singer/musician Ashit Desai has been selected for the coveted Sangeet Natak Akademi award 2017 for his outstanding contribution to music. This was announced after the General Council meeting of the Akademi on June 8 at Imphal in Manipur.
