Though he is instrumental behind organizing a Grand garba event -Vibrant Navratri Mahotsav – enjoyed by lakhs of people, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is never seen dancing on the tune of Garba.
During Navratri, Modi visited several Garba grounds in his Maninagar assembly constituency. Modi was requested to take at least a single round of Garba, but he politely refused.
Similar request was made by wives of Indian Administrative Service officers who had organized Garba event at Shahibag area in Ahmedabad on the second night of Navratri. Modi was present here and watched the festivity, but he didn’t join the Garba even after several requests were made.
On the 8th night of Navratri, Modi visited several Garba events in Gandhinagar and also on western Ahmedabad’s S.G.Highway. Here also, Modi didn’t join Garba on ground. He came, waved hand, watched the Garbas and left the venue in minutes to join another event.
Image conscious Modi, doesn’t like to do Garba. It is said that he even doesn’t prefer to pose a photograph with flower, because it doesn’t suit his personality.
It should also be mentioned here that during Navratri, Narendra Modi observs ‘Nakkoda’ fast. This means, he just consumes water and nothing else.
