Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi left the state today on his three-day trip to Russia flying in a special 22-seat plane owned by a company based in UAE.

The Chief Minister has been invited to Russia by organizers of fourth International Energy week conference and ninth Russian Oil and Gas Week celebration.

Modi will address the International Energy Week conference on 26 September.

Seeking to explore oil and gas assets for state-run GSPC, Modi is scheduled to hold talks with Russian Industries Minister Viktor Khristenko and Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko. He is also to hold talks with the Russian Gas companies like Gazprom and Itera to explore avenues of cooperation.Modi will address a get-to-gather of Russia based Gujarati people. Gujarat government owned company -GSPC has organized a dinner party for representatives of Russian oil and gas sector companies.

Chief Secretary D.Rajgopalan, Principal Secretary of Energy department Mr. S.Jagdishan, GSPC M.D. Jagdish Pandian, Personal Assistant of the Chief Minister Mr. Amrutbhai Patel, Adani group’s Pranav Adani, Torrent group’s Sudhir Mehta, Reliance Industries Limited’s Parimal Nathwani, Hazira Steel’s Nitin Shukl, Jubilant’s Hari Bharatia, Sun group’s C.U.Khemka, Swan group’s Nikhil Merchant and Essar group’s Jayesh Buch are accompanying the Chief Minister.

Delegation welcomed at Moscow airport

A delegation led by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was welcomed at Moscow airport by Indian consulate in Moscow. Indian embassy office is hosting a dinner for Modi led delegation.

A Russian girl child presented Gujarati garba welcoming Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi led delegation at Indian High Commissioner’s place in Moscow.

In a dinner hosted by Indian High Commissioner Shr. P.P.Shukla, the delegation also watched Russian artists performing dances that presented glimpses of Indian culture.

Gujarat is the only state owning a petroleum company

“Gujarat is the only state which has its own petroleum company, and we are here to look for the opportunities in hydrocarbons,” Modi told members of a local Indian group according to PTI report.

Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) is a transnational company and is looking for assets abroad, Modi said according to report.
