Praful Patel becomes new minister of state for Home in Gujarat

Himmatnagar MLA Praful Patel is new minister of state for Home in Gujarat. He has also been allotted portfolios of Police housing, Border security, Civil Defense, Home Guards, Gram Rakshak Dal, Jail, Prohibition, Excise. All these portfolios were once handled by former minister Amit Shah. After Shah’s resignation these departments were allotted to minister of state Parbatbhai Patel baring Home ministry which the Chief Minister kept with him, and he is still keeping it at cabinet level.
Patel, one of the most favorite MLAs of Chief Minister Narendra Modi took oath as minister of state today afternoon. Latter he was given portfolio of Home department by the Chief Minister.
Patel, first time MLA from north Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district’s headquarter Himmat Nagar town is also Sabarkantha district BJP President. He was appointed BJP President of the district unit in January early this year.
Patel defeated the richest Congress candidate NRI CK Patel in Gujarat Assembly election in year 2007. Patel was instrumental in securing victory over Sabarkantha Lok Sabha seat for BJP.
In Gandhinagar Sachivalaya circles, Patel was today discussed as ‘new emerging powerful Patel’ in Gujarat politics.
Born on 28 August, 1957 at Unava, Shri Praful Khodabhai Patel is Diploma holder in Civil Engineering. He started his career in construction sector through his partnership firm Sabar Construction. On social front, he served through Rotary club, Lions Club, Red Cross Society and other social organizations.
His hobbies are traveling, reading, mountaineering, rescue in natural calamities, adventure touring to unexplored places and research.
Patel has clean track record, with no court or criminal case against him.
