Mozambique President to visit Gujarat during 5-day India tour
New Delhi, 29 September, 2010

The Mozambique President Armando Guebuza will visit Gujarat during his five-day India visit, which is starting from Thursday. Prime Minister Guebuza will also visit New Delhi and Mumbai.

The Mozambique President will fly to Ahmedabad on Friday, where he would visit Mahatma Gandhi’s famous Sabarmati Ashram. The Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry will host a business meeting for him. He is also due to have meetings with Gujarat Governor Kamla Beniwal and Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

Armando Guebuza is accompanied by four of his cabinet ministers among others. He will hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during which important bilateral issues, including ways to enhance trade will be taken up.

Mozambique is a natural gateway to some of the landlocked southern African states like Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Swaziland, and hence a crucial window for India for trade with all these countries.

The pacts between two countries will be signed in the field of small and medium enterprises, in mines and minerals cooperation, as well as in providing the further framework to the BIPA, now the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement.
